Seated at our tasting bar, you will follow a detailed presentation through each of these wineries, learning how each represents a different style and artistic representation of the winemaking and vision in each stage of the evolution of CVNE over the years.
Compañía Vinícola del Norte del España (CVNE, the Northern Spanish Wine Company), was founded in 1879 in the town of Haro in Rioja by two brothers and today is still controlled by the direct descendants of the founding family. Since its inception, CVNE has been focused on the production and aging of wines and now comprises four wineries: CVNE, Imperial, Vina Real and Contino.
CVNE, Rioja Crianza Tinto / Monopole Rioja Blanco CVNE Crianza is the pumping heart of the winery, and one of the first ever created by the winemaking team in Rioja Alta. It's crafted in a please-all-palate style for everyday drinking, with or without food. It mirrors it's white counterpart, CVNE Monopole Blanco, which is also crafted in a clean, everyday drinking style putting freshness and fruit in the spotlight Vina Real, Rioja Reserva Tinto Vina real was the second winery created by CVNE in 1920. This wine is a representation of the old-school style of rioja from the rioja alavesa subregion, showing more rustic and earthy character more suitable for pairing with food Contino, Rioja Reserva Tinto Contino is CVNE's winery near in Rioja Alta that was created later in 1973. It was the very first single vineyard rioja wine established in Spain with a goal to craft concentrated, serious, and ageable expressions of rioja to develop complexity overtime in the cellar Imperial, Rioja Reserva Tinto Imperial is CVNE's cream of the crop, top cuvée created in 1920 with at creation of the vina real winery where it is made. These superior vineyards are located in Rioja Alta and have older-than-average vines to ensure the highest possible quality, concentration, depth, complexity, and balance. These wines can age for decades and have scored 100 points in the previous vintages
